Four days after Donald Trump accepted office as the 45th President of United States, he welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit later this year. On the telephone call, he stressed that US considers India "a genuine companion and partner" in addressing challenges over the globe.
One of the first person to congratulate after his victory, Modi had prior said in a series of tweets that he look forward to develop India-US ties and understand the maximum capacity of their collaboration. Exchanging views on defence co-operations and economy and regional security issues, the White House said in an announcement. The readout said that US and India stand shoulder to shoulder in the worldwide battle against terrorism.
